  • SlowShow, Luma Fondation

slow show de Dimitri Chambles 📍 Fondation Luma, Arles ▪️ iDzia Setup : Sound The Slow Show, a fascinating and profound artistic project, found its stage at the Luma Foundation in Arles, where the iDzia team had the honor of providing technical expertise for the sound setup of this unique event. This performance is more than just a show; it’s an exploration of human contrasts and tensions. Through movement, slowness becomes a way to unify, a means for each individual to confront their own rhythm, emotions, and inner conflicts. The concept of the Slow Show, created by dancer and choreographer Dimitri Chamblas, is a deep reflection on the relationship to time and space. The performance brings together individuals from different cultural backgrounds, each with their own fears, hopes, and dreams. Yet, what connects them is the shared experience of slowness. In this context, time seems to stretch and warp, making each moment extraordinarily precious and laden with meaning. The participants, resisting the natural flow of time, form a fleeting yet powerful community. The sound setup for the Slow Show was not merely about broadcasting music or sound, but about capturing and amplifying the resistance to time. With a sound installation specially designed for this performance, iDzia was able to capture the essence of what makes this experience unique: a slowness that is almost tangible. The sound setup had to not only accompany the movements of the artists but also enhance the sensation of time stretching. Every gesture, every breath was an element to be amplified with precision in order to intensify the experience. In such a performance where time seems to stretch indefinitely, the sound plays a crucial role. The goal was to make the sound experience as immersive as possible, allowing the audience to perceive this slowness so precisely that they almost forget the passing of time. The challenge was to use sound technology to accentuate the tensions created by this slowness while respecting the choreographer’s intent. The sounds, though subtle, were meant to accompany every movement, every pause, every rupture, creating an atmosphere where the audience is invited to suspend their own perception of time. The iDzia team worked closely with the artists to find the best technical solutions tailored to the specific needs of the project. The result is a sound installation that echoes the slowness of the performance, while adding richness and nuance, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in this world where slowness becomes an intense sensory experience. Beyond its artistic dimension, this project raised questions about our relationship to time and how we experience it in our daily lives. By contributing to the technical aspects of this performance, iDzia played a role in bringing this reflection to life in a unique and immersive way. The team is proud to have been part of a project that explores the boundaries between art, time, and human perception. F ind more out
