Demain, c’est loin, Theatre d'Arles 📍 The Roman Theatre, Arles ▪️iDzia setup : sound With 25 dancers aged 10 to 22 For the past 30 years, Josette Baïz has been propelling children and teenagers into the world of contemporary dance, offering them a unique platform to express their emotions and thoughts through movement. With 25 dancers aged 10 to 22, she stages three contemporary pieces that form a passionate plea for youth. Through dance, these young bodies seek to reinvent themselves, to question the future, and to explore new ways of rebuilding a world in crisis. One of the key focal points of this reflection is in the piece Room With a View , inspired by Australian choreographer Lucy Guerin. In this work, the young dancers, while staying true to contemporary dance principles, deeply question how to rebuild the future in a world that has been altered. Through movements that push physical and geometric limits, stunning figures emerge from the dancers’ bodies. This dialogue between the young artists and the societal and environmental forces around them becomes a beautiful way to express contemporary issues such as climate change, social inequalities, and the challenges ahead to create a more just world. A highlight of this performance is the dynamic excerpts from Room With a View , transmitted by the collective (LA)HORDE. These vibrant moments allow the younger generations to reinterpret the movements and express their own vision of societal changes to come. The narrative of the evening is further enriched by the reprise of 25e Parallèle , a piece by Josette Baïz that won the 1982 Bagnolet Dance Competition. This work, bridging the past and the present, serves as a platform for generational exchange, a way of passing on the passion for dance and the urgency of youth that transcends time. This work is brought to life in the magnificent setting of the Ancient Theater of Arles, a monument over two millennia old, which resonates with both history and the dynamic present of dance. The Ancient Theater, between June and August, transforms into a venue for culture and performance, hosting events such as the International Photography Meetings, the Les Suds festival, and the Peplum Film Festival. For each of these events, we have the opportunity to intervene and enhance this exceptional location, creating sensory experiences that highlight the history of the site while giving it a contemporary dimension. The two mysterious columns, known as "the two widows," marking the entrance of the Theater, become silent witnesses to the dialogue between the past and the present, between dance and historical memory. 504 , Mohamed EL Khatib 📍 MUCEM, Marseille ▪️ iDzia setup : sound, light, video Exposition " 504 ", MUCEM Mohamed El Khatib is the invited artist at the Mucem for the 2023 season, where he invites us to revisit a contemporary chapter of Mediterranean history. With his installation Renault 12 , he pays tribute to the thousands of Maghrebian families who, between the 1970s and 90s, traveled every summer through France and Spain by car, before boarding ferries that took them to the Maghreb, their lands of origin. This journey, both physical and emotional, marked entire generations of migrants who have shaped modern Mediterranean identity. El Khatib's Renault 12  installation is not just a re-enactment but a living homage—a way of honoring these personal and collective odysseys. To bring this project to life, the artist envisioned a performance titled 504 , which serves as both a reinterpretation and exploration of what returning to one's roots means, and how this act of return continues to resonate within the collective memory of Mediterranean populations. The return to Ithaca , part of the founding myths tied to the Mediterranean, is a recurring theme in migration stories and reunions with the ancestral land. To explore this motif, Mohamed El Khatib invites the residents of Marseille to participate in a unique experience aboard the legendary Peugeot 504, an iconic vehicle that, like the Renault 12, is part of the everyday life of many migrant families. This symbolic journey serves to reconsider the theme of returning to one's homeland as an intangible heritage that shapes Mediterranean identities. This quote perfectly captures the essence and worldview of one of the greatest figures in cinema and contemporary art: Agnès Varda. At the heart of the third chapter of Hans-Ulrich Obrist's archive is the profound and pivotal encounter with Agnès Varda, a meeting that marked a turning point in Obrist's career, while also highlighting Varda's unique place in the history of cinema and art. Agnès Varda (1928-2019), a visionary filmmaker, feminist, and pioneering artist, played a key role in the development of the French New Wave film movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Her unique body of work, blending fiction and documentary, revolutionized traditional cinematic codes while offering deep reflections on the human condition, society, and memory. The exhibition explores her lasting influence not only in cinema but also in the visual arts, particularly through her encounter with Hans-Ulrich Obrist. The meeting between Varda and Obrist took place thanks to an initiative organized by artists Christian Boltanski and Annette Messager in 2002. This was an opportunity for Obrist to fulfill a long-held dream: to meet and film Varda in her personal space, at her home, a place as intimate as it was creative. These interviews became the foundation of an artistic and intellectual friendship that grew stronger over the years, nourished by numerous discussions and collaborative projects. The exhibition honors this relationship by presenting exclusive archives and testimonies that reflect this creative bond. The final moment shared between Agnès Varda and Hans-Ulrich Obrist took place on March 3, 2019, just months before the filmmaker’s passing. This young, renowned artist, known for his experimental and avant-garde approach, staged a three-act laser opera in the form of an initiatory journey, combining both timeless elements and a modern, synthetic aesthetic. Copson’s work invites the viewer into a total sensory experience, where the art of light and sound merges into a fascinating dialogue. The sonic accompaniment to this unique opera was provided by the talented Caroline Polachek, a British composer and singer, whose music fills the space with captivating harmonies, further enhancing the immersive and dreamlike aspect of the installation. IDzia was privileged to be involved in this ambitious artistic project, bringing its expertise in lighting and sound design. The installation, located in the Chapelle de la Madeleine, a place rich in history and emotion, was transformed through the subtle use of light and sound, offering a complete immersion into a mystical and futuristic world. The chapel, a place of spirituality and heritage, blended perfectly with the modern elements of the installation, creating a striking contrast and a harmonious synergy between the past and the present. Light played an essential role in this experience. The projected lasers created dynamic forms that seemed to evolve with the story being told, transporting viewers into a parallel universe. Caroline Polachek’s sounds, both enchanting and impactful, enhanced this immersion, guiding the audience through a journey that was both personal and universal. Each act of the laser opera brought its own discoveries, with visual and auditory sensations that defied the traditional expectations of contemporary art. This innovative and experimental project, combining light, sound, and history, allowed art to transcend the boundaries of space, creating an experience where both the artist and the audience found themselves at the center of a collective exploration of perception and memory. The exhibition was a resounding success, captivating visitors and leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to witness this unique experience.

It was an unforgettable moment of celebration, where art, light, and history met perfectly, offering guests a unique sensory experience. We had the privilege of enhancing this iconic venue by applying our lighting expertise to highlight every corner of this majestic amphitheater. Founded in 2013 in Paris, High Art quickly established itself in the contemporary art world with an ambitious and bold program. However, it was in 2020 that High Art took a new step by settling into the 12th-century Romanesque Chapel of Madeleine, located in the picturesque Hauture district. This place, full of history and spirituality, provides a unique setting for exhibitions, allowing contemporary art to interact with the architectural heritage of great richness. Since its relocation to the Chapel of Madeleine, High Art has been offering an annual, demanding program, refreshed every two months, attracting attention from art lovers and collectors around the world. The gallery invites talented international artists such as Matt Copson, Cooper Jacoby, and Willa Wasserman, who, through their works, push the boundaries of contemporary art and offer captivating visual and emotional experiences. Each exhibition is an opportunity to discover bold and innovative creations, with a particular focus on the diversity of mediums and artistic approaches. 📍Fondation Luma, Arles XENON PALACE CHAMPIONSHIP - Sara Sadik Luma Arles presented XENON PALACE CHAMPIONSHIP  (2023), an interactive experience that captivated audiences by giving them the ability to control the video in real time. In this quirky universe, men fought with Xenons, powerful virtual weapons, to break the monotony and add excitement to their daily lives. This original concept featured battles where hookah pipes were transformed into controllers, creating a bizarre and humorous fighting game. The interactivity between the spectators and the projected images provided a complete immersion into this virtual world where anything seemed possible. At the heart of this performance, Émile-Samory Fofana, collaborator of Sadik, portrayed a lone wolf, a character seeking glory and recognition within the game. Through this role, he explored powerful themes of masculinity and cultural alienation that prevail in virtual worlds. By engaging in the fight, his character highlighted deep issues, emphasizing the loneliness and search for meaning of the individual in a digital space where human relationships and values are often put to the test. XENON PALACE CHAMPIONSHIP  was much more than just a video game; it was a mirror held up to contemporary society, where physical and virtual realities intersect and question each other. On Saturday, March 30th, we had the privilege of welcoming Jacob Collier, a unique and multifaceted artist, to this ever-more immersive venue. This event was an unforgettable experience for all those who attended, as Jacob Collier's performance brought a dynamic and emotional atmosphere that perfectly matched the grandeur of the location. The Carrières des Lumières, a historic site of white limestone quarries, have a fascinating history. They were used for the construction of the Château and the village of Les Baux, contributing to the creation of one of the most beautiful villages in France. After their closure in 1935, the site was partially abandoned, only to be rediscovered decades later by artists and creatives. In 1959, Jean Cocteau, captivated by the beauty of the place and its surroundings, decided to film sequences for his movie Le Testament d'Orphée  in this magical space, permanently marking the Carrières des Lumières in the history of art. Today, the Carrières des Lumières have been transformed into a digital art center, showcasing immersive exhibitions. Classified as a Natural Site , it is now managed by Culturespaces and has become an internationally renowned artistic hub. It is a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and technology lovers alike, seamlessly blending art with innovation. The venue’s cavernous and awe-inspiring setting provides the perfect backdrop for these visual experiences, making every exhibition unforgettable. WIMFEST welcomed exceptional artists, starting with Silly Boy Blue, a rising star in the French pop-rock scene. With his boundless energy and compositions blending catchy melodies with deep lyrics, the artist delivered an unforgettable performance, captivating the audience with his powerful rhythms and innovative sounds. His performance was a testament to his growing talent and artistic presence in the French music scene, leaving everyone in awe. Alongside Silly Boy Blue, the Lowland Brothers, true masters of blues, soul, and Americana, set the stage on fire by unveiling their latest creations in a special preview. Their performance was an authentic musical journey that harmoniously fused the roots of blues with modern influences. The brothers’ unique sound and ability to capture the essence of soul brought a special atmosphere to the evening, creating an emotional and intimate connection with the crowd. The festival kicked off with Jo and the Cox, a band whose groove and stage presence immediately set the tone for an enchanting musical evening. The exhibition presents jittery cinematic images with a unique chromatic quality, all taken in the artist’s own childhood bedroom. Through these images, Rose unveils the imperceptible mechanics of the medium, using toys and everyday objects to symbolize seven distinct eras in the history of the Earth. Each toy becomes an actor in the planet's history, a mirror reflecting the major stages of the Earth’s evolution, from its origins to its uncertain future.
