  • Maria HASSANI, "CANCELLED"

Maria HASSANI, CANCELLED 📍The Landscaped Park, Luma Foundation, Arles ▪️ iDzia installation : the sound, multicasting for sound creation The Gardens of the Luma Foundation  in Arles  served as the setting for a unique artistic experience, showcasing the sound work of artist and choreographer Maria Hassabi . For this occasion, Fohhn LX11 speakers  were placed on the grass, amplifying the impact of the performance within this natural and welcoming environment. These speakers, with their precise diffusion capabilities, provided an immersive sound experience, perfectly aligned with the work created by Hassabi during her residency at the Luma Foundation . Maria Hassabi , an artist renowned for her exploration of the limits of the body and movement, spent three months in residence at the foundation. At the end of this period, she presented her performance titled CANCELLED , a conceptual work that combines the body , time , and immobility  in a deep reflection on the human condition. CANCELLED  challenges the notions of time  and human dynamism , exploring the idea of prolonged immobility and slowness as ways to address questions of perception and the transformation of the body in space. The performance was built around the concept of the absence of rapid movement and the importance of stillness in the creative process. By playing with extremely slow tempos, Maria Hassabi created a work that plunges the audience into a reflection on the passage of time and how the human figure evolves and interacts with its environment. This experience highlighted subtle contrasts between the stillness of the body and the enveloping sounds created by the multidirectional sound diffusion , allowing the audience to perceive nuances invisible to the naked eye but powerfully present through the sound. The sound installation by iDzia  played a key role in enhancing this work. With multidirectional sound diffusion, the spectators were immersed in a rich acoustic atmosphere, creating a resonance that reinforced the hypnotic effect of the performance. The sound diffusion technology enabled spatialization of sound, which accompanied and amplified the experience of slowness and immobility, making the performance even more poignant. Thus, Maria Hassabi's CANCELLED  was a unique experience where sound, stillness, and movement intertwined, offering the audience a profound reflection on time, the body, and human perception in an environment filled with calm and serenity. • Rachel ROSE, "Everything and More"

Rachel ROSE, Everything and More 📍 East Gallery - The Tower, Luma Foundation, Arles ▪️ iDzia installation : video projection with trans-sonic screen, 3.1 sound Everything and More  is an immersive and poetic work by video artist Rachel Rose , which deeply questions the concept of mortality through the out-of-body experience of an astronaut. Presented as a sequence of dreamlike images, the work is inspired by science fiction films as well as an interview Rachel Rose conducted with American astronaut David Wolf about his experience of spacewalks. Rachel Rose discusses with David Wolf his 128-day stay in space aboard the Mir Space Station in 1997. Through this installation, the artist offers an intense sensory experience that immerses the viewer into a universe where space and time seem to stretch, and the boundary between body and mind becomes blurred. The work becomes an exploration of humanity’s fragility and its connection to the vastness of the universe. The iDzia  installation plays a key role in presenting this work. • Gary HILL, "Circular Breathing"

Gary HILL, Circular Breathing 📍East Gallery - The Tower, Luma Foundation, Arles ▪️ iDzia installation : Stereo sound, 2 Genelec Smart Active Monitor speakers / ERCO lighting Gary HILL, "Circular Breathing" Circular Breathing  by Gary Hill, presented at the Galerie Est - La Tour, Fondation Luma in Arles, captivated visitors with its evocative power and enigmatic atmosphere. The installation, showcased from September 23, 2022, to March 5, 2023, immerses the audience in a universe where images and sounds blend to create a unique sensory experience. Through a series of successive scenes, Hill weaves a fragmented narrative, intertwining images, sounds, and movements that provoke both fascination and questioning. In Circular Breathing , each image seems to overlap with the next, creating a sense of strangeness that gradually dissipates over time. Scenes of bustling streets in Tangier, a ship sailing on the high seas, and the interior of a mosque merge with more intimate moments, such as a man chopping wood or a cigarette slowly burning down in an ashtray. These juxtapositions of images plunge us into a play of temporality and perception, where each scene feels both familiar and strange. The slow movements, like that of an elderly woman absorbed in her reading or large, thick hands loading a pistol, contrast with close-up shots of grass blades and an insect dragging its prey, creating a balance between the everyday and the mysterious. At the heart of this installation, the hands of a woman playing the piano echo throughout the work, providing a musical and visual continuity. The music, although distorted by changes in speed that disrupt its rhythm, is recognizable as Vexations  by Erik Satie, a piece known for its hypnotic repetitiveness. This distortion of the music, enhanced by the iDzia  sound installation with its stereo sound, two Genelec Smart Active Monitors, and ERCO lighting, intensifies the sensory experience. The resonance of sound and the modulation of light create total immersion, where both the listener and the viewer find themselves in a state of temporal suspension. Through Circular Breathing , Gary Hill does more than layer images and sounds: he invites the viewer to undergo an introspective experience, where time, perception, and emotion blend and transform. The installation, despite its apparent simplicity, touches on deep questions of memory, identity, and reality while offering an intense exploration of the senses. This work fascinates with its ability to capture attention while leaving room for interpretation, making it an unforgettable experience for those fortunate enough to witness it.
