  • Rachel ROSE, "Everything and More"

Rachel ROSE, Everything and More 📍 East Gallery - The Tower, Luma Foundation, Arles ▪️ iDzia installation : video projection with trans-sonic screen, 3.1 sound Everything and More  is an immersive and poetic work by video artist Rachel Rose , which deeply questions the concept of mortality through the out-of-body experience of an astronaut. Presented as a sequence of dreamlike images, the work is inspired by science fiction films as well as an interview Rachel Rose conducted with American astronaut David Wolf about his experience of spacewalks. Rachel Rose discusses with David Wolf his 128-day stay in space aboard the Mir Space Station in 1997. The piece explores human existence, the limits of the physical body, and the profound impact of being in an extreme environment. Through this installation, the artist offers an intense sensory experience that immerses the viewer into a universe where space and time seem to stretch, and the boundary between body and mind becomes blurred. The work becomes an exploration of humanity’s fragility and its connection to the vastness of the universe. The iDzia  installation plays a key role in presenting this work. By using a trans-sonic screen and a 3.1 sound system, the installation creates an immersive experience where the visual and auditory elements intertwine, fully enveloping the viewer into the astronaut's universe. The trans-sonic screen enhances the sensory dimension of the projection, blending the visual and sound elements into a fluid, dynamic experience. The sound, particularly important in this work, becomes a vehicle for emotion, amplifying the intensity of the experience and plunging the audience into an atmosphere that is both dreamlike and intimate. By addressing the intersection of technology, art, and space exploration, Rachel Rose invites viewers to reflect on the place of humanity in the universe, while also touching on universal themes such as existence, memory, and death. Everything and More  encourages us to contemplate life from a cosmic perspective, imagining the infinite while acknowledging our own mortality. • Gary HILL, "Circular Breathing"

Gary HILL, Circular Breathing 📍East Gallery - The Tower, Luma Foundation, Arles ▪️ iDzia installation : Stereo sound, 2 Genelec Smart Active Monitor speakers / ERCO lighting Gary HILL, "Circular Breathing" Circular Breathing  by Gary Hill, presented at the Galerie Est - La Tour, Fondation Luma in Arles, captivated visitors with its evocative power and enigmatic atmosphere. The installation, showcased from September 23, 2022, to March 5, 2023, immerses the audience in a universe where images and sounds blend to create a unique sensory experience. Through a series of successive scenes, Hill weaves a fragmented narrative, intertwining images, sounds, and movements that provoke both fascination and questioning. In Circular Breathing , each image seems to overlap with the next, creating a sense of strangeness that gradually dissipates over time. Scenes of bustling streets in Tangier, a ship sailing on the high seas, and the interior of a mosque merge with more intimate moments, such as a man chopping wood or a cigarette slowly burning down in an ashtray. These juxtapositions of images plunge us into a play of temporality and perception, where each scene feels both familiar and strange. The slow movements, like that of an elderly woman absorbed in her reading or large, thick hands loading a pistol, contrast with close-up shots of grass blades and an insect dragging its prey, creating a balance between the everyday and the mysterious. At the heart of this installation, the hands of a woman playing the piano echo throughout the work, providing a musical and visual continuity. The music, although distorted by changes in speed that disrupt its rhythm, is recognizable as Vexations  by Erik Satie, a piece known for its hypnotic repetitiveness. This distortion of the music, enhanced by the iDzia  sound installation with its stereo sound, two Genelec Smart Active Monitors, and ERCO lighting, intensifies the sensory experience. The resonance of sound and the modulation of light create total immersion, where both the listener and the viewer find themselves in a state of temporal suspension. Through Circular Breathing , Gary Hill does more than layer images and sounds: he invites the viewer to undergo an introspective experience, where time, perception, and emotion blend and transform. The installation, despite its apparent simplicity, touches on deep questions of memory, identity, and reality while offering an intense exploration of the senses. This work fascinates with its ability to capture attention while leaving room for interpretation, making it an unforgettable experience for those fortunate enough to witness it. That track, now a classic, revealed the richness of his sound universe, a fusion of infectious rhythms and authentic melodies. Today, with his new album As i Am , Charlie Winston presents a more intimate and introspective side, a radical shift from his previous works. As i Am , his fifth album, is undoubtedly the most personal of all. It was born during the confinements, a challenging but also creatively fertile period. It was in this forced isolation that Charlie Winston crafted this new opus, the result of an unexpected yet enriching collaboration with singer Vianney. This artistic partnership helped create an album of great sensitivity, where the British artist reveals himself in a more sincere and vulnerable way than ever before. As i Am  is a sort of declaration, a manifesto in which Winston shows himself without artifice, bringing to light his deepest emotions. The album title, which serves as a mantra, perfectly embodies this approach: "This title, As i Am , has the value of a mantra. It’s a way to remind who I am and what I do." And it is on stage that this powerful and universal message will truly come to life. During the fervor of concerts on his French and European tour, the audience will experience Charlie Winston’s artistic evolution and feel the depth of his new tracks. The atmosphere created by his iDzia installation, featuring sound and light elements, will enhance this experience. The combination of sound and light will create an environment where each note and word is amplified by a spectacular stage design, offering the audience a full sensory journey.
