  • Night of Light

Night of Light , Initiative internationale en soutien aux métiers de la culture. 📍Les Arènes, Arles ▪️ iDzia Setup : Architectural Lighting Night of Light is an international movement created in support of cultural professions, a solidarity initiative that originated in Switzerland and has grown to resonate throughout Europe. Its main objective is to support cultural workers, businesses, and structures that contribute to the richness of our cultural heritage, which has often been threatened by crises, such as the ongoing pandemic. This movement calls for collective awareness of the importance of preserving our creative, dissemination, and artistic production spaces. The concept behind this action is simple yet powerful: to illuminate buildings that symbolize cultural creation. Monuments, museums, theaters, concert halls, studios, and even offices—these places where works of art are created—become focal points for this mobilization. The idea is to give them visibility and remind everyone that culture, through its many actors, is an essential component of our society. It is a pillar of our collective identity, a means of expression, and a vehicle for social and economic connections. In this context, iDzia decided to actively participate in the 2020 edition of this initiative by lighting up the Arles Amphitheater. This historic site, a true symbol of art and culture in the south of France, was illuminated for the occasion to make a lasting impact and support the profession. The action also aimed to raise awareness among our elected officials, both local and national, about the growing insecurity that the health crisis imposes on our professions, particularly those in the cultural and event sectors. Illuminating the Arles Amphitheater thus carried strong symbolic meaning, embodying hope for a more secure future for artists, technicians, and all cultural professionals. By participating in this initiative, iDzia wanted to offer the city of Arles a striking visual moment through its expertise in architectural lighting. The illumination of the Amphitheater was not just a way to celebrate culture but also a means of sending a strong message of solidarity and commitment to a sector that is more than ever in difficulty. Night of Light is much more than just illuminating a monument. It is an act of support, a rallying cry, and an invitation to gather around culture, art, and the professions that bring them to life. Through this initiative, every city and every cultural venue can become a beacon of hope and resilience in the face of the crisis.

  • It's Urgent !, a Luma Project

It's Urgent ! , a Luma Arles project, under the direction of Hans-Ulrich OBRIST 📍 Luma Foundation, Arles ▪️ Installation iDzia : video installation, lighting We are delighted to have participated in the installation of the new exhibition "It’s Urgent!" at the Luma Foundation in Arles, a groundbreaking project directed by curator Hans-Ulrich Obrist. This initiative is part of a reflection and commitment to the urgent issues of contemporary life. "It’s Urgent!" was launched in 2019 in Denmark, during the European Parliament elections. For this event, artists were invited to address the present and the future through their creations, focusing on a range of subjects all tied to the pressing concerns of our society. Initially, the project took the form of a poster exhibition displayed on urban billboards throughout Copenhagen. The main idea was to make art accessible to the public by integrating it into the public space, while encouraging people to reflect on the major issues of our time. In 2021, the exhibition was reinterpreted in a more immersive and impactful way at the Luma Foundation in Arles, where iDzia was responsible for the video installation and lighting. Our team brought its expertise to set up video projections that immersed visitors in a unique visual and sensory experience. These projections were designed not only to display the artists’ works but also to enhance the atmosphere and the message conveyed by the exhibition. We carefully planned the lighting to highlight the artworks and create an immersive environment that encouraged reflection and emotion. Every detail was thought through to foster a deep interaction between the public and the exhibition, while allowing the works to fully unfold. The exhibition "It’s Urgent!" is much more than a simple art display: it serves as a call to action, raising awareness about urgent social, political, and environmental issues. Through the works and the way they are illuminated, this exhibition encourages each person to reflect on their own responsibility in the world around us. As a key player in this event, iDzia contributed to making this experience possible, ensuring that the audiovisual technology supported the message and impact of the works. We are proud to have participated in such a meaningful project and to have worked with the Luma Foundation to deliver a high-quality artistic experience. This project is a great example of how art and technology can come together to inform and provoke the public. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Hans-Ulrich Obrist and the Luma Foundation for their trust, and we look forward to seeing where this project will go in the future. On November 18th, the Arles Amphitheater became the site of a powerful symbolic action, bringing together numerous economic and cultural stakeholders from the city. The event, called "Alerte Rouge" (Red Alert), saw this iconic monument bathed in vivid red light, serving as a warning signal in support of all the professions involved in live performance and event production. This initiative, born from the movement of cultural workers and their unions, aimed to draw attention to the growing precariousness of the sector, exacerbated by the ongoing health crisis. This action, both visual and symbolic, took place at one of the most emblematic locations in Arles. The Amphitheater, a majestic and historically rich site, transformed into a powerful rallying cry for culture and the event industry. With the red light projected onto the ancient stones of this historic monument, iDzia played a part in amplifying the message: the culture and live performance sectors are facing an unprecedented crisis, and immediate action is needed to support these vital industries. The lighting installation at the Arles Amphitheater by iDzia was executed with technical and artistic precision, transforming this historic location into a symbol of resistance and solidarity. In addition to architectural lighting, projections were used to display messages and images, further strengthening the impact of this visual mobilization. This act not only raised awareness about the situation of cultural workers but also helped to educate the general public on the realities of the performance world, which often remain behind the scenes. While this movement is locally rooted in Arles, it is part of a broader international initiative, with many cities around the world participating in similar actions to support the cultural professions. It serves as a reminder to everyone that culture is not a luxury, but a necessity, and it is crucial to ensure its future for generations to come. 📍Chapelle du Méjean, Arles ▪️ Installation iDzia : the sound, acoustic design Last weekend, the Chapelle du Méjean in Arles hosted an exceptional event as part of Jazz in Arles 2020, a music festival that draws jazz enthusiasts from all over the region each year. This historic venue, with its unique atmosphere, provided the perfect setting for memorable concerts, and iDzia was pleased to contribute its expertise in sound and acoustic design. The Chapelle du Méjean, with its distinctive architecture, is not an easy space to sound due to its specific acoustic characteristics. However, through careful planning and a custom installation, we were able to create a sound experience that matched the talent on stage. The challenge was to find the perfect balance between the venue’s acoustics and the artists’ needs to ensure optimal sound quality. For this project, we used the best available technology.
