A mythical scene in the heart of Arles
Every summer, the stones of the Théâtre Antique d'Arles vibrate to the rhythm of contemporary music thanks to the Festival Les Escales du Cargo (Cargo Stopovers Festival). On 22 and 23 July, iDzia handled the sound, lighting and video management of the 2026 edition, putting its technical expertise at the service of one of the most anticipated events of the summer in Arles.
From the Arles club to the ancient theater
Launched in 2004 on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Cargo de Nuit, the Escales du Cargo extend the adventure of this 350-seat venue for contemporary music in downtown Arles by offering a larger-scale concert program.
Every July for 22 years, the festival invests the Arles Antique Theater to offer the public outdoor concerts of renowned French and international artists. Over the years, the stage has hosted names as varied as Ibrahim Maalouf, Nick Cave, Air, Texas or Fontaines D.C., confirming the reputation of the event.
A 2026 edition in two evenings
For its 22nd edition, the festival was held on two nights with an international program:
Wednesday 22 July: Selah Sue & The Gallands, opening for Patrick Watson.
Thursday, July 23: Archive, came to present its thirteenth album Glass Mind, released in February 2026.
This edition also marked the 30th anniversary of the Cargo de Nuit, whose historic room is completing a complete renovation.
A controlled location for the management of Les Escales du Cargo
For these two evenings, iDzia took charge of the entire sound, light and video technical system, ensuring precise sound distribution despite the acoustics of an open-air theatre, as well as lighting and video recording to match the programmed musicians.
As a recurring partner of major events at the Arles Antique Theatre, our technical team knows the constraints of this demanding heritage site, between preservation of the monument and current stage requirements, for an experience always faithful to the spirit of the Escales.
