The Night of the Year: The Festive Highlight of the Rencontres d'Arles
The Night of the Year is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the opening week of the Rencontres d'Arles photography festival. Over the course of an evening, it offers a grand visual journey through some forty photographic works, projected on a loop on large screens. Festival favorites and brand-new creations come also together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The 2026 Edition: A Blend of Visual Art, Music, and Performance
For the 2026 edition, La Nuit de l’Année took place on Saturday, July 11, at the former Etienne Paper Mill in Trinquetaille, Arles. The audience was treated to a brand-new work by choreographer Rana Gorgani, a fusion of action painting, calligraphy and choreography, created specifically for this 57th edition of the Rencontres d’Arles.
The event wasn’t limited to projected images: it also featured live music, dance, and performance. The Rencontres d’Arles once again gave carte blanche to the media outlet Konbini, which presented a musical program curated by Franco-Egyptian DJ Nadia El Hakim, as well as Habibifunk and Radio Flouka.
Expertise Forged Through Loyalty to the Festival
For this festive and immersive evening, iDzia deployed all the technical equipment necessary for the event’s success:
Sound reinforcement for the industrial wasteland ;
Lighting for the projection and performance spaces ;
Large-format video displays of the projected photographic works.
This collaboration builds on our regular work with the Festival In at the Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles, an experience that allows us to master the technical nuances specific to the festival’s highlights, ensuring an experience that remains as true as possible to the artists’ intentions.
