Night of Light
The Night of Light is an international movement aimed at supporting businesses and individuals in the cultural sector. Initially launched and widely promoted in Switzerland, this initiative now resonates across Europe, reaching cultural professionals worldwide. The idea is to illuminate the buildings where creativity thrives: monuments, museums, theaters, concert halls, studios, and offices—the places where our performances and work come to life.
For this edition of the Night of Light, iDzia took part in a symbolic act of solidarity by lighting up the iconic Arles Amphitheater. By illuminating this historic monument, we sought to raise awareness about the urgent challenges faced by the cultural industry, particularly those brought about by the ongoing health crisis. This initiative not only celebrates the resilience and creativity of cultural professionals but also emphasizes the need to support these sectors during uncertain times.
Our contribution involved setting up architectural lighting to bring new life to the Arles Amphitheater, creating a stunning visual display that highlighted its majestic structure. The choice of lighting was designed to enhance the historical beauty of the monument while symbolizing hope and strength for the cultural community during a period of great adversity. The illuminated amphitheater served as a beacon of support for artists, performers, and cultural workers who have been significantly impacted by the pandemic.
By participating in the Night of Light, iDzia aimed to honor the role of culture in society while sending a strong message to local and national representatives about the insecurity facing the cultural sector. As venues remain closed or operate at limited capacity, the financial and emotional toll on cultural professionals has been immense. Lighting up the Arles Amphitheater was a call to action, urging lawmakers and decision-makers to recognize the severity of the situation and continue to offer support to the cultural industries.
This international initiative is more than just an act of illumination—it is a testament to the strength of the cultural community and a reminder of the importance of creativity in our lives. The Night of Light brings us together in solidarity, shining a light not only on cultural venues but on the people who make art, culture, and creativity possible. We are proud to have contributed to this global movement and continue advocating for the future of cultural professions.
